Nepalese Society of Soil Science, Nepal has decided to celebrate soil week (1st December to 5th December, 2016) throughout the country as a part of the celebration of World Soil Day, 2016. The World Soil week campaign aims to connect people with soils and raise awareness on their critical importance in our lives. The Soil week will be celebrated from 1st December and will come to an end on the 5th of December, 2016.The Soil Week will be organized jointly by NSSS, SMD, TU, AFU and SSD. All Soil lovers are encouraged to participate and share the experience.
1st December: National Essay Writing competition on the topic (Soils and Pulses: a symbiosis for life)
2nd December: Interaction program on Organic soil amendments (Venue: Soil Science Division, Khumaltar)
3-4th December: National Conference (Venue: Soil Science Division, Khumaltar)
5th December: Walkathon, Street Drama, Closing, etc. (Venue: Department of Agriculture, Hariharbhawan)
Agriculture is the basis of life and Soil is the basis of agriculture. Soil is where food begins and for soil to be healthy, we need to manage it for sustaining its life. The theme of world soil day 2016 is Soils and pulses, a symbiosis for life. Nepalese Society of Soil Science felt to organize a conference to address the challenges in achieving symbiotic progress in soil management.
In striving to create sustainable symbiosis between all actors and promoters, the conference mainly focuses on the following three themes:
- Organic Farming and Soil Sustainability
- Soil Degradation and Management
- Disaster Management
The World Soil week campaign aims to connect people with soils and raise awareness on their critical importance in our lives. The Conference aims to identify the obstacles in achieving the theme of the conference and also to document the issues for further study and for proper implementation.
The conference will take place at Seminar Hall, Soil Science Division, Khumaltar. The conference will start at 9 am sharp and will end at 4.30 pm.
Participation is open to all having professional interest in the themes of the conference. There is nominal registration charge for the conference and special discount available for students and farmers only. Participants must pay Rs 1000/- as registration fee (Rs 500/- for students and farmers) on the spot but confirmation of participation should be made before 25th November, 2016. No travel, fooding or lodging allowance will be provided by the organizing committee.
Abstracts should be related to the theme of the conference and should not exceed 350 words. For submission of abstract, please send abstract in proper format to firstname.lastname@example.org before 25th November.

Abstract:Abstract must contain; background and objectives of research, methodology, major findings, conclusion and recommendations. 3-4 keywords should be provided in alphabetical order. It should be in Times New Roman font with 12 font size. Please underline the name of the presenter. Full paper should be submitted within one week of paper presentation. Proceedings will be published within this fiscal year. All presented papers (both oral and poster) will be published in the proceeding.
Keynote session: It will be presented by experienced scientist from within or outside the country (only one keynote speech for each theme) (3 papers)
Technical paper session:Selective five papers will be presented for each theme (15 papers)
Poster session: This session will include for all the themes of the conference (more than 20 posters)
